Vocal quartet performances featuring no movement received lower ratings compared to two movement conditions and compared to audio-only performances. Findings revealed that the conductor’s strategies to empower members of the ensemble was the most salient factor. Shared reading and infant directed singing were found to foster active interactions and vocalizations.
